Purple Ati-Atihan at Kalibo Aklan
Monday, January 19, 2009
This weekend I went to Kalibo, Aklan to witness the celebration of their Ati-Atihan festival for the feast of Sr. Sto. Nino. It’s a 4-hour bus ride from Iloilo City to Kalibo. For your information, Kalibo’s Ati-atihan festival is the mother of all festivals. Imagine, it’s already their 797th celebration!
I know it’s a bit shocking to some of you, you might not even heard of it even if your from the Philippines because Sinulog (Cebu) and Dinagyang (Iloilo) is more famous than Ati-atihan. As a proof, I watched Rated K (local tv show in the Phils.) last night, one of their topic is about festivals, they mentioned Sinulog and Dinagyang and what about Ati-atihan?? Nada! But that’s just Rated K.
Guess what?! I’ve seen Kat, Uma, Jason, the host of Trip na Trip (another local tv show) joining in on the celebration. I think they’ll feature this festival in one of their episodes. Just stay tuned!
Ok, for some of you, you already know that my blog is all about PURPLE! Well Ati-atihan festival is not about purple. What I did while I was in Kalibo is I took pictures of purple things. Hehehe!
Feast yourselves…

cei, why won’t you compose a song like this?
Eiffel 65 Station
Blue Lyrics
yo listen up here’s a story
about a little guy that lives in a blue world
and all day and all night and everything he sees
is just blue like him inside and outside
blue his house with a blue little window
and a blue corvette
and everything is blue for him and his self
and everybody around
cos he ain’t got nobody to listen to
i’m blue da ba dee da ba die…
i have a blue house with a blue window.
blue is the colour of all that i wear.
blue are the streets and all the trees are blue.
i have a girlfriend and she is so blue.
blue are the people here that walk around,
blue like my corvette, it’s standing outside.
blue are the words i say and what i think.
blue are the feelings that live inside me.
i’m blue da ba dee da ba die…
i have a blue house with a blue window.
blue is the colour of all that i wear.
blue are the streets and all the trees are blue.
i have a girlfriend and she is so blue.
blue are the people here that walk around,
blue like my corvette, it’s standing outside.
blue are the words i say and what i think.
blue are the feelings that live inside me.
i’m blue da ba dee da ba die…
inside and outside blue his house
with the blue little window and blue corvette
and everything is blue for him and hiss elf
and everybody around cause he aint got
nobody to listen to
i’m blue da ba dee da ba die…
I’m blue (if I was green I would die)
